Overview
Casablanca is usually seen through a windscreen. This one is done on foot, through the two quarters that reward walking: the old medina behind the port, which predates the French city by centuries, and the Habous quarter, which was designed in the 1920s to look older than it is.
It is a short tour by design – three hours, no long drives, and enough stopping to ask questions. Good for a first evening, a slow morning, or a layover with time in hand.
Trip Highlights
- The old medina: its gates, its fish market and the Sqala bastion
- The Habous quarter, its arcades, bakeries and olive sellers
- The spice and babouche stalls, with an explanation of what is actually sold there
- Moroccan mint tea at a stop of your choosing
- A walk with a licensed guide rather than a route on a phone
